Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-05

1. What AEGIS is

AEGIS is a security, moderation, and incident-response platform for Discord servers. It consists of a Discord bot and a web dashboard (together, "the Service"). The Service is operated independently and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc.

2. Accepting these terms

By adding the AEGIS bot to a Discord server, or by signing in to the dashboard, you agree to these terms. If you add AEGIS to a server, you confirm you have authority to administer that server and to enable security tooling that can moderate its members. You must also comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and meet Discord's minimum age requirement.

3. How enforcement works — and whose decision it is

AEGIS executes policies that server administrators configure. Protections default to observation-only modes; automated enforcement happens only where an administrator has enabled it. Every automated action records the deterministic factors that triggered it, and moderation actions create reviewable cases with an appeal path where the server has enabled appeals.

Decisions to warn, restrict, or remove members of a server are made by that server's staff and configuration — not by the Service. Disputes about a specific moderation action should be raised with the server's staff, including via the /appeal command where available.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service on servers you do not have authority to administer;
  • use the Service to harass, discriminate against, or target individuals or communities;
  • attempt to bypass rate limits, authorization checks, or containment controls;
  • probe, scan, or test the Service for vulnerabilities without prior written permission;
  • use the Service to violate Discord's Terms of Service or any applicable law.

The operator may suspend the Service in any server, or revoke dashboard access, where these terms are violated or where continued operation poses a risk to the Service or to other communities.

5. No guarantee of detection

No security tool prevents every attack. AEGIS is designed to narrow the window between attack and response; its detections are tunable and fallible. The Service is provided without any warranty that it will detect, prevent, or contain any particular incident, raid, spam campaign, or malicious actor, and false positives can occur. Server administrators remain responsible for their communities.

6. Availability and changes

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Features may change, and the Service may be interrupted for maintenance, upgrades, or reasons outside the operator's control (including Discord platform outages). Material changes to these terms will be reflected on this page with an updated date; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

7. Your data

What is collected, what is deliberately not collected, retention windows, and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: the Service is currently provided free of charge, and the operator's total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for it in the preceding twelve months; the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including losses arising from moderation decisions made by server staff, missed detections, false positives, or unavailability of the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by removing the bot from your server and logging out of the dashboard. Upon removal, data is handled per the retention rules in the Privacy Policy. The operator may terminate or suspend access for breach of these terms, with notice where practicable.
